K Monica, S Rajeshkumar, Abilasha Ramasubramanian, Pratibha Ramani, Gheena Sukumaran
December 2022, 13(6):369-373
DOI

Wound damage must be shielded from inflammatory responses caused by the external environment, while also receiving adequate moisture and promoting wound healing.
Cinnamomum verum, Coleus aromaticus/amboinicus
, and
Mentha
have proven effects on anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects as separate in various studies, but no studies have observed the synergistic effects of one herb on the other. The aim of the present study is to assess the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of karpooravalli, mint, and cinnamon formulation against wound pathogens for better healing of mouth ulcers through an
in vitro
study for further mouth paint preparation. Herbal extract is prepared using herbal plants karpooravalli, mint, and cinnamon. We studied the antimicrobial effects on
Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus
, and
Pseudomonas
with ampicillin antibiotic disks as positive control and anti-inflammatory with control of diclofenac sodium. The antimicrobial activity of zone of inhibition increased with higher concentration of 100 μL against
E. coli, S. aureus
, and
Pseudomonas
at 20 mm, 18 mm, and 15 mm, respectively. The anti-inflammatory activity showed the highest percentage of inhibition using 50 μL with 91.5%; this reveals good anti-inflammatory activity by the synergistic action of the herbal formulation. The synergistic effect of the herbal formulation had a comparable anti-inflammatory activity as that of the standard. Hence, it can be employed in large-scale production and may be used for fabricating a natural product based on mouthwashes and mouth paints.

Does age determine the lightness and darkness of tooth shades? A retrospective study
Revathi Bhaskaran, Subash Sharma
December 2022, 13(6):374-377
DOI
:10.4103/japtr.japtr_510_22
The study aimed to analyze whether age determines the lightness and darkness of tooth shades. The demand for esthetics has soared to a next level progressively in many developing countries including India; the importance provided to match the tooth shade creates a great difference in the satisfactory outcome of the patient in the field of dentistry. Therefore, this particular study analyzed the differences in tooth shade values based on age factor among the Indian population. 238 individual's case sheets with the age between 18 and 65 years. 18–30 years of age were considered as group 1 (young adults), 31–45 years in group 2 (middle age), and above 45 years in group 3 (older age). The clinical intraoral pictures of the patients which were taken prior to the treatment were obtained and the shade of any one of the upper permanent central incisors was assessed using the Vitapan 3D-Master shade guide, especially the middle portion of the facial surface of the incisors. The collected data were imported to Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 17 (IBM Corporation). Chi-square test was used to assess the significance. From the data, 17.2% showed A1 shade, 35.2% A2 shade, 7.5% A3 shade, 5% A4 shade, 7.1% B1 shade, 15.9% B2 shade, 7.1% B3 shade, 3.3% B4 shade, and 1.1% C1 shade. The individuals under the category of above 45 years showed darker tooth shade compared to young adults and middle age population (Chi-square test,
P
< 0.001). Significant association was established with darker tooth shades by increasing age and vice versa. The older age population showed a higher correlation for dark shade between teeth. The aging process significantly affects the teeth color. Hence, as a dentist, it is important to know about the distribution of tooth shade and its association with age to get an outcome with adequate patient satisfaction.

Opioids like fentanyl are used both alone and in combination with other drugs to induce anesthesia and treat pain. It is also combined with heroin or cocaine when used recreationally. It starts acting quickly, and its effects usually wear off within 2 h. A typical pharmaceutical strategy for controlling the physical pain and psychological discomfort related to dental treatments, including surgery, is moderate (conscious) sedation. This study aimed to assess knowledge and awareness about dental applications of fentanyl among dental students. A 15-question survey was sent through an online platform to about 150 dental students in Tamil Nadu. Data were collected over a 6-month period and compared using SPSS software by IBM. The results were statistically analyzed and graphically interpreted. From the results obtained, we can observe that from the respondents of the current survey, 52% were undergraduates and 48% were postgraduate dental students. About 93% of them were aware of the fact that fentanyl comes under opioid analgesics, and 82% were aware that it is mostly used in case of pediatric patients. About 81% of the participants were aware that apart from benzodiazepines, fentanyl can also be used in combination with general anesthesia in dentistry. This study revealed that most of the participants are aware of the commonly used anesthesia and analgesia such as fentanyl in dental practices. However, more continuing dental education programs and seminars must be conducted to further enhance the knowledge and understanding of dental students about drugs such as fentanyl in dental practice.

Pit-and-fissure sealants of the occlusal surfaces for the posterior teeth are well susceptible to develop dental caries compared to the smooth surfaces due to its complex morphology, which makes dental hygiene a challenging fact which give rise to increased plaque accumulation. The use of pit-and-fissure sealants is to provide inhibition toward microorganisms and aggregation of food particles, thereby inhibiting caries initiating and preventing caries progression. The study aimed to assess the effect of pit-and-fissure sealants postbrushing simulation through photography. For this photogenic original study, eight teeth were selected, with two groups each and four teeth present in each of the groups. Brushing simulator machines are well-established methods for analyzing the efficacy of toothbrushes. A total of 10,000 cycles were accounted for by the machine with linear X-axis and Y-axis = 2500 in each group. The clockwise and counterclockwise = 2500 in each group. From the research, it can be concluded that Group A is found to be more effective than Group B, where Group A is Clinpro sealant and Group B is YuSeal. This pit-and-fissure sealant application is very important in clinical practice to prevent the tooth from getting decayed. This research helps us to establish the amount of reduction in both the groups of sealants postbrushing as various brushing patterns influence the retention of pit-and-fissure sealants.

Decision for precision! The first stage in creating an accurate, passively fitting prosthesis is to replicate the intraoral relationship of implants using impression methods. The technique and the impression material utilized are the key elements that influence the accuracy of the implant imprint. The goal of this study was to assess the accuracy of the described implant impression technique using various impression materials, as well as to look into the clinical aspects that influence implant impression accuracy. Two holes (4.3 mm × 10 mm) were drilled in a U-shaped study plastic model representing the partially edentulous maxilla, and the appropriate Nobel Biocare Replace select implants were implanted. Closed tray copings were placed for the relevant implants, and closed tray impressions were taken with several impression materials (PVS-1) Dentsply, medium-bodied, and 2) Regular setting-Zhermack Elite HD+). To assess passive fit accuracy, a jig trial and RVG IOPA were used. Stereomicroscopy was used to evaluate the precision of the implant and analog interface from two perspectives: buccal and lingual. On the buccal aspect, Group 1 had a mean value of 13703.29, whereas Group 2 had a mean value of 11395.58. On the lingual aspect, Group 1's mean value was 8415.61, whereas Group 2's was 9192.01. In the closed tray technique, no statistically significant differences between different imprint materials were found. There was no significant difference in the accuracy of closed tray implant impression techniques with different impression materials, according to the findings.

Major oral deformities fall under dental caries and periodontal diseases hence active prevention of these two diseases can contribute to good oral health and preserves oral hygiene.
Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, Lactobacillus, Candida,
and anaerobic organisms are the organisms responsible for causing oral cavity-related deformities. Probiotics which is the useful and nonpathogenic bacteria are added to food products which tend to be advantageous to human health. A wide range of studies indicates that these probiotics are useful against oral tissues. Hence, the primary goal of the study aims to determine the antibacterial potential of probiotic curd against pathogens causing various oral diseases and deformities. A laboratory-oriented
in vitro
microbiological study design was framed to detect the antimicrobial potential of the probiotic curd. Subgingival calculus specimens were collected and anaerobic organisms were isolated in thioglycollate broth. Lawn cultures were subjected to the surface of brain heart infusion agar and 100 μl of probiotic curd, normal curd, and filtrate were taken in a micropipette and inoculated over the specific wells. The culture plates were incubated anaerobically at 37°C for 24 h. The culture plates were monitored for the zone of inhibition to assess the antibacterial activity against the test pathogens. The results showed that there was no antibacterial activity against the anaerobic bacteria cultivated from subgingival calculus. However, further validation must be done on the same with purified components from the probiotic curd. Probiotic curd is normally considered a vital immune-boosting nutritional supplement. However, the antibacterial activity must be evaluated with care with the purified filtrates of the curd to substantiate its exact role against dental pathogens.

In countries with a high amount of geriatric patients, it is mandatory for a dental clinician to have working knowledge on complete denture (CD) procedures. The aim of this study was to troubleshoot the errors in denture fabrication by assessing the difficulties in clinical procedures. A questionnaire was distributed among dental undergraduates across the country in the present study. A total of 26 questions were included in the study. An online sharing medium was used for distribution and a total of 140 responses were received. SPSS for windows, version 20 was used for data tabulation. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were done. The results of this study revealed that jaw relation was the most difficult procedure followed by border molding. Multiple problems arise from the practitioner's end due to the lack of knowledge. One of the causes for these problems could be inability to learn the principles and procedures during the undergraduate program. This must be addressed at the base level so that better care can be given to patients.

This research was aimed at observing how antibacterial strength, colour stability, and compressive strength of chitosan modified PMMA compare to non modified PMMA [polymethyl methacrylate]. The study consisted of 2 groups - chitosan modified PMMA was the test group while unmodified PMMA was the control group. Twenty-four specimens were prepared for each group. Compressive strength was evaluated using the Universal testing machine. The antimicrobial action against streptococcus mutans and lactobacillus was evaluated using the disc diffusion method. A reflectance spectrophotometer was used to measure the baseline colour following the CIE L*a*b* scheme. Following these experiments, the specimens were submerged in coffee and distilled water solutions [
n
= 8] for 15 days each. Color stability was measured by comparing the coordinates obtained pre and post the ageing method. Independent t test used to examine data on colour change and compressive strength. [α = 0.05] It was observed that the incorporation of chitosan into polymethylmethacrylate increases its compressive strength. This was statistically significant [
P
= 0.00]. Improved colour stability was also observed [
P
= 0.000]. Antimicrobial action against streptococcus mutans and lactobacillus was seen in the chitosan modified group. Chitosan incorporation provides a promising improvement in the properties of the polymethylmethacrylate however further research with invivo studies are required to come to a conclusion.

Long span base metal alloy fixed prosthesis and partial dental prosthesis frameworks most often require welding for better fit and adaptation. The type of metal alloys used and its effect on the weld strength of the prosthesis have to be investigated. The aim of the study is to comparatively analyze the weld strength of nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) and cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) base metal alloys when subjected to tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. 10 nickel- and cobalt-based specimens were obtained by casting of castable resin patterns of dimension 25 mm × 3 mm × 1 mm. Welding of the samples was carried out using the Lampert PuK 2 welding equipment, and a three-point bend test using a universal testing machine was carried out to evaluate the weld strength of the specimens. Statistical analysis was carried out using the SPSS software version 23. Higher weld strength was observed in the Co-Cr alloy (mean = 898 MPa) than in the Ni-Cr alloy (mean = 690 MPa), when submitted to TIG welding (
P
< 0.05). TIG welding could be a better alternative for joining base metal alloys for long span edentulous cases, and cobalt-based alloys could be better alternatives to nickel-based alloys that usually tend to cause hypersensitivity reactions.

DOI
:10.4103/japtr.japtr_309_22
Stitch abscesses are abscesses that develop following surgical procedures as a result of suture infections. Because of nonabsorbable sutures, the material reacts with connective tissue, generating adhesions around the stitch. The use of this type of material increases the risk of infection. The aim of this study was to establish awareness on the management strategy of suture stitch abscess among dental students. An online survey consisting of ten questions about suture stitch abscess along with sociodemographic factors was circulated among equal numbers of 2
nd
years, 3
rd
years, final years, and compulsory rotatory residential internship (CRRI). The data obtained from the questionnaire were transferred to Microsoft Excel and imported to SPSS software for statistical analysis. Interns are more aware about the complications and management strategy of suture stitch abscesses compared to others. Awareness on the management strategy of suture stitch abscess is important, and it helps to reduce the side effects to improve the outcomes. Educating the risk factors, signs and symptoms, and management strategy is the best way to help raise awareness.

The most complex and important portion of the body and masticatory system are the temporomandibular joint. The growth of mandibular bone in both sagittal and vertical directions is by the condylar process. This study is done to determine different shapes of mandibular condyles using orthopantomographs (OPGs). The study's goal was to determine the morphology of the mandibular condyle in South Indians. One hundred digital OPGs with no defects were selected and obtained from private dental institutes and hospitals in Chennai for this study. The morphology of the mandibular condyle was studied and tabulated. Using the SPSS software, the Chi-square test was done to find associations between demographics and morphology. The study was an attempt to find the prevalent shape of the condylar head using a panoramic radiograph. Fifty-one percent were oval in shape, 20.5% were bird beak in shape, 13.6% were diamond in shape, and 14.9% were crooked finger in shape. The results suggest an oval–oval shape in more frequency among both genders. OPGs are the most commonly used and interpreted radiographs, due to their low radiation and easy availability among dentists. Hence, the shape of the mandibular condyle can also be determined using OPGs; future studies are to be conducted in large samples to make the context evident.

Consumption of gluten triggers an autoimmune disease known as celiac disease (CD). This is also referred to as nontropical sprue, celiac sprue, or gluten-sensitive enteropathy. Gluten is a protein present in wheat, barley, rye, and other grains. It is due to gluten that the dough becomes elastic and provides bread its chewy texture. The aim of this study is to assess the awareness and knowledge of CD among dental students. This survey is totally based on CD and its awareness among dental students. A survey was conducted among 100 students who are volunteers underneath. This survey contained questionnaires of CD causes, symptoms, treatment, etc., and the accrued was analyzed using SPSS statistics. The result shows that CD affects mainly the small intestine being chosen by 38.61% of students. The symptoms of CD as chronic diarrhea are chosen by 63.37%. The main cause of the disease is due to gluten chosen by 9.90%. Some of the gluten-free foods are chosen by 22.77% of students. In the Chi-square test, the association between the awareness of CD and students shows that postgraduate (PG) students are more aware than undergraduate (UG) students. However, this is not statistically significant since
P
> 0.05 (
P
= 0.088). The correlation graph says that the PGs are more aware than the undergraduates, and UGs have poor knowledge about this disease.

Some of the most common oral disorders are periodontal disease. Variation in hematological parameters in chronic periodontitis patients could affect the type of treatment and its overall outcomes. Comparing and evaluating the hematological parameters in people with chronic periodontitis and the general population was the aim of this study. 100 individuals with chronic periodontitis (Group I) and 100 individuals in clinically good health participated in the study (Group II). Hemoglobin (Hb), random blood sugar (RBS), bleeding time (BT), and clotting time (CT) were evaluated and compared between the two groups. In contrast to patients with chronic periodontitis (8.934 ± 2.0), in healthy patients, the mean Hb concentrations were found to be higher (13.435 ± 1.8). In comparison to healthy individuals (98.98 ± 25.42), patients with chronic periodontitis had a higher mean value for RBS (112.14 ± 47.5). In contrast to the healthy population (BT = 2.654 ± 13.36, CT = 6.057 ± 0.267), patients with chronic periodontitis had shorter mean BT and CT (BT = 0.301 ± 0.07, CT = 2.84 ± 0.6058). Hematological factors and the population's periodontal health were discovered to be significantly associated (
P
= 0.001). Within the constraints of the continuing investigation, it was shown that among people with chronic periodontitis, Hb levels, BT, and CT were reduced, while blood glucose levels were increased.

Composite is usually a mixture of two phases. The composites used in dentistry have high durability. The individual properties of each phase are important to increase the mechanical property of the composite. This study aimed to determine the surface roughness changes of two composite resin restorative materials after thermocycling. Two of the commercially available composites were chosen (RestoFill and SwissTEC). The composite disks of dimension 10 mm diameter and 3 mm height were prepared using silicone molds, and every increment was light cured for 30 s. A stylus profilometer was used to assess the surface roughness prethermocycling, and then, the disks were subjected to an integrated thermocycler (T.S-4.4) for 1000 cycles. The postsurface roughness was obtained after the thermocycling process using the same stylus profilometer. The surface parameter values before and after thermocycling of the SwissTEC sample is less than that of RestoFill. There was a significant difference between the Rz and Rq values of the two different commercially available composite materials. Thus, the present study concludes that thermocycling influenced the surface roughness of composite resin and increased the surface roughness of both the RestoFill and SwissTEC composites.

A tooth that does not erupt into the dental arch during the anticipated developmental window is said to be impacted. A supernumerary tooth (ST) would be any dentition or odontogenic entity that grows from a tooth germ more often than is typical for a particular area of the dental arch (ST). The study's goal is to determine how commonly impacted supernumerary teeth are present within the Indian community. This research project at the institution which was retrospective was done on dental patients who went to the private dental hospital between March 2020 and March 2021. We looked over the medical records of 86,000 patients at the private dental institution and analyzed the data. In the study's 74,421 impaction cases, 139 instances of impacted extra teeth were found. For statistical analysis, collected data were analyzed, entered into an Excel document, and imported into SPSS version 21. In the study population, males between the ages of 21 and 35 years were more frequently observed to have supernumerary impacted teeth. Impacted teeth were more frequently observed in the posterior region rather than the anterior region. Within the constraints of the study, it was shown that males between the ages of 21 and 35 years and the posterior part of the mouth experienced impacted supernumerary teeth the most frequently.

The surface area determination has a vital role in measuring the properties of liquid and solid substances. Fluoride is a potent remineralizing agent of the teeth. The surface area is measured using a goniometer. The main aim of this study is to estimate the wettability of topical fluoride gel on the anterior and posterior teeth surfaces. Topical acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel was taken in small quantities. Anterior and posterior teeth were collected, and their superficial unaltered enamel sections were used as the surface where the contact angle (CA) is determined. The surface wettability is determined using Ossila goniometer to measure CA. Each stage was mounted on a mechanical stage of the goniometer. A calibrated microsyringe was used to dispense drops of the APF gel over the surface of the specimen Group A (anterior tooth cut section) and Group B (posterior tooth cut section). This procedure is repeated for all specimen samples. The mean of CAs of the anterior teeth (88.41°) was greater when compared with the mean of posterior teeth (80.36°) CA.
P
value found using the paired
t
-test of SPSS software is found to be 0.271 (>0.05), hence statistically not significant. The greater the CA, the lower is the degree of wettability on the teeth surfaces. The mean CA of the topical fluoride APF gel on the anterior tooth surface is greater when compared to the posterior tooth surface. This signifies that greater wettability is seen on posterior tooth surfaces.

While the traditional work on concerning corticosteroids is likely innocuous and perhaps gainful with lower prophylactic dosages and the nature of oral admission was additionally unaffected. The study aimed to investigate commonly prescribed corticosteroids in children undergoing full-mouth dental management under general anesthesia. A single-centered retrospective study among pediatric patients treated under general anesthesia of the age group of 0–13 years. The sample size is 124. Data were collected and tabulated. Data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS software version 23. Chi-square test and Pearson correlation were done using the software and
P
< 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The results show that 79.67% commonly prescribed dexamethasone, whereas 20.33% use hydrocortisone, providing the age groups between 0 and 3 has higher prescribing of corticosteroids. From this study, it is concluded that since the
P
value was more than 0.05, there is no significant statistical difference that has been analyzed. Dexamethasone is the commonly prescribed corticosteroid in children undergoing full-mouth rehabilitation under GA, followed by hydrocortisone.

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare genetic disorder which is autosomal dominant distinguished by congenital malformations of large toes and flare ups, etc. It is a disorder of connective tissue, with heterotopic ossifications seen with skeletal muscles, tendons, and cartilages and also called as Stone man disease, myositis ossificans, and Munchmeyer disease. The main objective of the study is to assess and create the awareness about FOP among dental students. An online-based survey was conducted among 103 dental students, undergraduates and postgraduates. About 20 questionnaires were prepared and circulated among the students through the “Google forms” across Chennai. A survey questionnaire asked about the knowledge of fibrodysplasia, its causes, treatment, and diagnosis was enquired. Thus, the data obtained were analyzed statistically using the SPSS software. In our study, about 64% were undergraduates and 35% of them were postgraduates. About 66% of the participants were aware of fibrodysplasia and 32% of them were not aware. Most of the undergraduate students were more aware of fibrodysplasia (40%) when compared to postgraduates (29%). However, this is statistically not significant. Fibrodysplasia ossificans reported to have a high incidence in 1 in 2 million people worldwide. Hence, an early diagnosis of this disorder can prevent further complications. Although the survey has provided significant knowledge about fibrodysplasia, awareness still has to be created among dental students.

Implant dentistry's emergence and acceptance have provided physicians with a wide range of new options for fixed and removable rehabilitation. The eventual replacement of the lost tooth is the ultimate success, and this can be accomplished using recognized prosthodontic methods. The present study aims to evaluate the time and dimensional accuracy of implant definitive models with an open tray impression with two different techniques. Impression was made in two different techniques and the cast was poured and checked for the time taken and the accuracy of the impression. In IBM SPSS software version 23.0 all the results were statistically analyzed. An Independent
t
-test was performed for the parameters. No statistically significant difference was present (
P
> 0.05) when comparing the accuracy and time taken between the two groups. It is concluded that time taken and the misfit is less for modified open tray impression techniques when compared to the regular open tray impression.

A cast post is a one-piece unit that is custom fabricated for the tooth at the dental laboratory. Traditional extracts such as neem and green tea have good antimicrobial and antioxidant activity against pathogens. The empty canal space may provide a suitable environment for promoting bacterial growth. The main aim of the study is to find the antimicrobial activity of the cast post coated with the nanoparticle. Prepared cast post was coated with prepared green tea and neem-mediated zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles. Culture is done in agar media where control is noncoated post and another is nanoparticle coated post was implanted in the agar media. The zone of inhibition was noted and statistical analysis was done. The maximum zone of inhibition found on
Candida albicans
(19.333 2.081) followed by
Enterococcus faecalis
(14.000 3.605), and
Streptococcus mutans
(12.666 2.516). Green tea and neem-mediated ZnO nanoparticle showed good antimicrobial activity against the tester microorganism. Cast post coated with nanoparticles has been proved to be important as it is helpful in the prevention of origin and spread of infection around the canal and through the apical foramen.

Caries in primary teeth are a major health concern in socially disadvantaged populations and may alter the eruption pattern and function of their successor. The aim of the study is to find the prevalence of Class V caries in maxillary and mandibular canines in 3–5-year-old children. A single-centered retrospective study was conducted in a private dental institution, Chennai. The data were collected from the Dental Hospital Management System of Saveetha Dental College (DIAS). A test for significance was done with the help of the Chi-square test. The most prevalent caries in canines of children between the age group of 3 and 5 years were cervical caries or Class V caries. 5, 35,951 patient details that were available in DIAS, and 2,35,841 were details of pedodontic patients, 200 patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were analyzed. It was observed that the prevalence of caries on the right maxillary and mandibular canines (80.00%) was higher than the left counterpart (20.00%) of the same arch. Maxillary canines (70.00%) had more prevalence of caries as compared to mandibular canines (30.00%). Caries prevalence on the right maxillary and right mandibular primary canine was higher than their left counterparts. Maxillary primary canines had more prevalence of caries as compared to mandibular primary canines.

The aim of this study is to find the knowledge, attitude and awareness of biocompatibility of orthodontic materials among dental students.A survey of 13 questions was created using Google Forms. The questions on the survey cover a wide range of topics including the awareness of cytotoxicity of orthodontic materials, their corrosive potential, ways of preventing corrosion and release of subsequent substances, and various means by which these physiological actions occur. This survey was circulated among dental undergraduate students and the responses recorded were then transferred to SPSS software. Here we conducted descriptive analysis to produce a pie chart and Chi square test to determine the association and statistical significance. The results were noted and examined in the form of bar graphs. The p value for this study was found to be 0.01, which makes this study statistically significant. The awareness about the biocompatibility of orthodontic materials among dental students was found to be low. Continuing dental education programs can be conducted to constantly improve the knowledge regarding the judicious and ecofriendly use of all newly available dental materials.

The antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer properties of ivermectin make it a wonder drug with a wide range of possible applications. It works against a variety of microorganisms, including viruses. Ivermectin has a wide range of antiviral effects, according to
in vivo
research in animal models. Because ivermectin is involved in a range of biological processes, it could be a promising therapeutic candidate for viruses such as COVID-19 and other positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses. The study aims to analyze the awareness about the current status of usage of ivermectin in management of COVID among students studying in a private dental college. A study based on questionnaire was organized among students studying in a private dental college in Tamil Nadu. The subjects were asked a series of structural questions based on the usage of ivermectin in management of COVID. The questionnaire was prepared with 10 questions. 150 individuals completed the questionnaire; all of their answers were tallied in excel and imported into SPSS. For statistical analysis, the Chi-square test was performed. Excel was used to tabulate and enter the data, and the SPSS package software was used to analyze it. The study's threshold for statistical significance was set at
P
< 0.05. From this study, we found that the students had limited knowledge about the usage of ivermectin for management of COVID. More studies should be conducted to widen the knowledge among the students about the current affairs of the world.
